The following pubs are all within a few minutes drive of the campsite. There is a cross country walk to Wookey Village where two pubs are located ( see local walks). There are many more pubs ain Wells and surrounding villages

Westbury  Inn

Westbury Sub Mendip, Nr Wells

Live music keeps a place happy and Friday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes will often find music playing in The Westbury Inn. The restaurant offers a menu that changes daily - you can view a sample menu online. Our aim is to serve good, seasonal food at reasonable prices.

Ring ‘O’ Bells   ****

Wookey Village, Nr Wells

This beautiful 16th Century country pub is set in the heart of the picturesque village of Wookey in Somerset, near the Cathedral City of Wells and the famous Wookey Hole Caves, set at the foot of the Mendip Hills and the gateway to the beautiful Somerset Levels wetlands.

The pub has retained many of its original features including oak beams and stone walls and a large open fire, to heat those winter nights and the patio garden is a tranquil place to while away the summer hours.

Serving a wide selection of well kept ales, lagers and wine and a good choice of food is available on the lunch and evening menu.

Burcott Inn
Wookey Village, Nr Wells

The Burcott Inn is a popular traditional country pub with flagstone floors, log fires and low beams. With two bars, one of which is copper-topped, the Burcott is renowned for its quality real ales (mainly from local micro breweries) and its pure brew lager beers from Germany and the Czech Republic. There is also a well balanced wine list with wines from around the world.

The Burcott offers an extensive a-la-carte menu with blackboard specials, as well as a wide range of home-cooked light meals during lunchtimes. There is a large garden with views of the Mendip Hills.  

Panborough Inn
Panborough, Nr Wells

The Panborough Inn, situated in a small hamlet on the B3139 and just 10 minutes drive from Wells, Glastonbury and Cheddar, is an attractive Coaching Inn dating back to the 17th Century.

With views across the Somerset Levels to Glastonbury Tor, The Mendip and Polden Hills, The Panborough Inn has an enviable and well deserved reputation for great food, excellent service and a good atmosphere.

The Queen Victoria Inn ****

Priddy Village, Nr Wells

Situated in the wonderful Mendip village of Priddy (the Butcombe capital of the universe!), the Queen Vic is a creeper clad, stone built pub just by the village green. A real locals pub, but also attracting a broad spectrum of customers. . . from cavers to campers to walkers and mountain Bikers. . . not to mention beer & food aficionados.

Hunters Lodge Inn ****

Priddy, Nr Wells

This is a wonderful unspoilt country pub. The landlord has been there for years and years, and it shows. Proper beer from the barrel, real home cooked food at real prices, i.e. cheese roll £1.20 not £4.95 with loads of additional rabbit food - just cheese. It's got an open fire and real people, absolutely unique, which, when combined with the four real ales on explains why it was CAMRA pub of the year, 2008. Definitely worth a visit
